Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take charge of how we respond to certain situations. I often remind my clients and myself that self compassion is the most important ingredient in creating a healthy and satisfied life. With my coaching sessions, you’ll learn about radical acceptance and ways that you might reclaim your power of choice over whatever life may throw at you.

Life Coaching Session
Life coaching is a process that helps individuals identify and meet personal and professional goals. Life has become far more complicated in the last fifty years and families and support systems are often separated by distance and/or time. Asking for help is one of the skills that we all need to hone, especially as we grow and encounter new situations or grapple with past situations. A life coach can help you identify strengths and growing edges so that you can find fulfillment in work and love. I use tools that will help you learn to practicing new behaviors and travel new roads in your journey to find fulfillment. Combining life coaching with therapeutic intervention and understanding, we can work collaboratively to create the life and the relationships that you desire. It is important to understand that a Licensed Therapist can provide both therapy and coaching but a Life Coach is not licensed to provide therapy. I find that I often cross and recross that thin line as the therapeutic partnership develops with a client, allowing us to glean the benefit of both modalities.
Finding Balance
It has been suggested that individuals are most likely to effect change in their lives when they feel safe and understood. Although I try to help you find solutions to present dilemmas, it is clear that past experiences and messages inform our lives. We will work together to bring the past and the present into focus and congruence. I use many tools to help you identify and achieve your goals in therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills include: Identifying Mistaken Messages/Irrational Thought Processes, Thought Restructuring, Reframing, and Scripting. As an RN, I am in a unique position to help you learn ways to use Poly-Vagal Theory/Neuroscience to help you understand how to regulate your body and your brain for a more balanced life. We will also work with Relaxation Skills, simple breathing exercises, Progressive Relaxation, Guided Imagery, and other Mindfulness skills that can move you toward lasting change.
Career Coaching Session
This service is a favorite among many of my clients, especially healthcare workers, as it is often times one of the keys to a happier, healthier life. Managing the stress from one's job is crucial if we hope to have healthy relationships with our peers, our co-workers and our loved ones.  One of the keys to finding that healthy relationship is cultivating self-compassion to enrich our lives and our relationships. I will partner with you to help you find the balance between work and the rest of your life!!
Quote
Raymond Carver
And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.
My Education and Background
I began my career working in NY as an Avocation Instructor for adults with Cerebral Palsy. When I moved to the West Coast, I attended Nursing School and spent the next fifteen years working in Hospital ICU/CCU's, Oncology, and Psychiatric Units, eventually shifting into Public Health and completing my Masters Degree in Counseling at Seattle University. Along the way, I wandered a bit, driving a local ambulance, contracting with DCFS as a Social Worker with the Foster Care system, working with healthcare professionals to improve their workplaces, and teaching a number of programs through grants and public agencies. I also raised a family and am the parent of two wonderful adults who remain a big part of my life. I am now fully and gratefully settled in my private practice in Port Townsend, WA.
